Our Story

In the 1950s, Pura Vida Falls was a lush, naturally beautiful farmland

Meet the original owner and farmer, Don Lulu and family

Seventy years ago, in a tranquil valley outside Platanillo, a farmer named Don Lulu rode in on horseback and discovered a land of stunning natural beauty. Using nothing more than his finger as a topographer, he traced the valley’s ridges down to the river, mapping out the boundaries. With a firm handshake to seal the deal, this lush expanse of land became his beloved family home and farm.

After decades of farming and with old age creeping in, Don Lulu decided it was time to sell his property and start a new chapter. Around that same time, in March 2022, the founders of Pura Vida Falls first saw a photo of the land for sale. They decided to take a look, but nothing could have prepared them for what awaited…

The next chapter at Pura Vida Falls takes shape as a one-of-a-kind nature community with unparalleled waterfall and valley view homes

Peering through a break in the lush jungle foliage, the prospective owners stood atop the property and gazed out at the endless views in awe. Before them, an immense, mighty waterfall cascaded powerfully into a serene swimming hole below.

They could hear the thunderous roar of the crashing water and smell the mist rising from the falls. Nearby, toucans called out, adding to the awe-inspiring symphony of nature. They were captivated by the unparalleled views—the area is unlike anything they had seen in all their years in Costa Rica!

As they stood there, feeling the land’s energy inviting them to bring new life, they instantly knew this was the spot they had been waiting for. They would bring to life a long-held vision to create a unique nature community in Costa Rica.
